Spending 4 Days In Kilkenny: Ideal Itinerary To Make The Most Out Of Your Stay

So you’ve booked a three or four-night stay in Pembroke Hotel in Kilkenny and you can’t wait for the adventure to start, but what will you do while you’re here? Don’t worry, there are enough attractions, heritage sites, bars, restaurants, and activities to keep you occupied for a month without repetition! We’ve put together a three-day itinerary so you can get the most of your stay without missing any of the local highlights.

Day One

Enjoy a leisurely morning at home, making your way to Kilkenny City just in time for check-in at 4pm. If you arrive early, you can drop your bags and head out to explore or enjoy a hearty lunch in Statham’s. Make yourself comfortable in your spacious, stylish room before heading out to explore Kilkenny City.

Wander around the town, getting your bearings and checking out the shops and boutiques you want to come back to later. Walk down as far as Kilkenny Castle, wandering through the expansive grounds and the castle itself, learning about the fascinating history of the area.

While heading back to the hotel, take a mini pub crawl enjoying some of the brilliant pubs along the way, taking in the live Irish music and the famous Kilkenny hospitality. Make your way back to Pembroke Hotel, right in the heart of the city, and order a delicious dinner delivered to your room.

Day Two

After a day of travel, you’ll want to enjoy a lie-in on your first morning in Kilkenny. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in Pembroke Hotel, where we serve a huge selection of breakfast options from Full Irish to a light continental. Make sure to fuel up with plenty of freshly prepared food, tea and coffee before a long day of exploring the best of Kilkenny’s great outdoors.

If the weather is fine, head out to the outskirts of the city to a charming country town called Castlecomer where you can enjoy an afternoon in the impressive 80-acre Discovery Park. There you can explore your wild side, enjoying activities such as ziplining, tree-top walking, climbing walls, Octagon, boating, archery, walking and hiking trails and so much more. It’s an ideal day out for couples, groups of friends, hens & stags and families of all ages.

On your way back to the city, stop off The National Reptile Zoo for a fascinating look at some of the world’s most exotic snakes, lizards and much more.

If you find yourself in Kilkenny on a rainy evening, head to the local Cinema, about 10 minutes walk from Pembroke Hotel. IMC Kilkenny is a multiscreen cinema showing the best in blockbuster movies from cartoons and kids to superheroes and drama.

Kilkenny is packed with restaurants serving excellent food from local cuisine to more exotic fare. Luckily when you leave one of the many restaurants in the city after a great feed, you won’t have to travel far back home as Pembroke Hotel is in the middle of the action. Make sure to stop into Statham’s Bar for a nightcap before you retire for the evening.
